Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is an optimal region to hone the art of traveling light. This overnight trip is designed for experienced backpackers looking to streamline their gear and trip planning while practicing efficient desert foot travel. We are not aiming for extremes to cut weight (for example, we will still carry stoves and safety equipment.) In addition to classic Glen Canyon Backcountry Club services, this trip will provide:
A pre-trip phone call to discuss gear selection, answer questions, and ensure you are prepared.
A pre-trip training guide.
Our private trips include:
Guides select a route based on seasonal and current conditions.
Dinner and breakfast are prepared by our guides. You pack a lunch and snacks.
Small Group Size (maximum 8 participants)
2 guides per trip
Team cooking gear, water purification, and First Aid Kit are provided
Satellite messenger available for emergency communication
Human waste bags are provided where required
Clients receive a detailed trip handbook and gear list upon reservation
